2026-2027 Full Day Community Program: Our full day students begin Thursday, July 30th and follow the district school calendar.

• Before school care 7:00 - 8:00 am, Monday through Friday
  • We pause student arrival between 8:00am and 8:10 am so that staff can transition to both bus and car duties. If you are not at the door before the external doors automatically lock at 8:00 am, you must get in the car line.
• Academic day 8:15-3:15
• After school care 3:15-4:45
  • Late fees apply for students not picked up by 4:45pm.

2026-2027 Half Day Developmental Preschool: Our half day students begin Wednesday, July 30th and follow the district school calendar.

• AM 8:15-10:45
• PM 12:45-3:15

2026-2027: In preparation for a July 30th start, all families will be notified no later than noon on Tuesday, July 28th by their classroom teacher. This notification may come via primary phone number, primary email address, or via Parent Square. Families are then invited to attend our Back-to-School Open House on Tuesday, July 28th between 6:00-7:00pm. (You can visit anytime within that hour.)

Parking that evening is available in our west lot, our east lot (by Maple Elementary), behind Avon Middle School South, and behind the Administration Center. Please enter Doors 1, 2, or 3.

The supply list contains items for full day community students and for half day students.  If there is an item your child may need that is specific to his/her class, the teacher will share that with parents at a separate time. This supply list can be found on the Supply List tile on our website.

Full-day community preschool and Half-day developmental preschool students will receive an AM and/or PM snack daily.  This is part of your fees that are paid at the start of the school year. If your child has food allergies or requires a specific diet, please contact Rebecca Leeper at (317) 544-6062. Food substitutions may be available with proper documentation.

FULL DAY FAMILIES:

*All community FULL DAY preschool students are expected to eat a mid-day meal, packed either from home or purchased from the cafeteria.  Lunch can be purchased through the school and is not part of the snack fee. Each day we will feature a hot entrée or Uncrustable served with fruits, vegetables and milk.

If your child is in developmental preschool and you are utilizing ACSC bus service, all campus bus loading and unloading will happen behind the WOELC. Your child's bus driver will call you prior to the start of the school year with specific curb-to-curb bus pickup/drop-off times. You will be given two car tags in the event you ever need to pick up your child at the end of the day.

If you choose to drop and pick your child up instead of utilizing special transportation, please carefully read the information below. 

HALF DAY: MORNING SESSION Drop-Off

• The school day is 8:15-10:45am
• The drive approaching White Oak is ONE WAY.  Please follow all district signs to safely enter our campus.
• Arrive between 8:00 and 8:10am. (No earlier, as our full day families need access to the drive to drop off for before-school care)
• When approaching the school, please stay to the RIGHT. (The left lane must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.) 
• Unloading is only permitted at the curb (seven spots along the FRONT sidewalk). If the seven car spots along the sidewalk are taken, please stop your vehicle at the designated crosswalk (painted yellow lines) and wait to be directed to the unloading zone.
•  Please do not park in the lot and walk across. You will be asked to return to your vehicle and get in the car line.
• Parents walk children to front door. Staff will meet children at the door at 8:10am.
• FOR THE SAFETY OF STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND STAFF, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM CELL PHONE USE UNTIL OFF THE WOELC CAMPUS.

HALF DAY: MORNING SESSION Pick Up

• Arrive on campus beginning at 10:40am and get in line along the front curb. Seven cars will fit at a time. Have your child's car tag CLEARLY DISPLAYED THROUGH THE WINDOW.
• At 10:45am, please stand by your vehicle in the unloading zone. A staff member will walk your child to you.
• Parents load children into vehicles.

HALF DAY: AFTERNOON SESSION  Drop Off

• The school day is 12:45-3:15PM
• The drive approaching White Oak is ONE WAY.  Please follow all district signs to safely enter our campus.
• Arrive between 12:35-12:40PM 
• When approaching the school, please stay to the RIGHT. (The left lane must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.) 
• Unloading is only permitted at the curb (seven spots along the FRONT sidewalk). If the seven car spots along the sidewalk are taken, please stop your vehicle at the designated crosswalk (painted yellow lines) and wait to be directed to the unloading zone.
• Please do not park in the lot and walk across. You will be asked to return to your vehicle and get in the car line.

• Parent pickup will be at Door 3, which is on the EAST end of WOELC. Arrive no earlier than 3:00 pm
• Pull along curb, remain in your vehicle and clearly display your child's car tag. (Passenger side visor or dashboard is the best location)
• At 3:15pm, please stand by your vehicle. A staff member will walk your child to you.
• Parents load children into vehicles.

Tuition and Fees: Please see the WOELC fees and payments page for specific information.  We encourage all families to utilize the electronic funds option for payments.  Detailed information can be found on the fees and payments page.  Are you an Avon School Corporation employee?  You have the option to have tuition automatically deducted from your paycheck.  A new form must be submitted each school year.  Please contact our school office for the form. 

Full Day Drop Off and Pick Up - General Information:  The drive approaching White Oak is ONE WAY.  Please follow ALL SIGNS for entering our campus. 

PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.  AT THE END, YOU WILL FIND A LINK TO OUR MAP. 

• At the Back to School Open House on Tuesday, July 28th (6-7:00 pm), you will be provided with two neon car tags with your child's name on them. Place on your visor or on a pants-hanger that can be hung from your rearview mirror when arriving on campus. IT MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE to staff. 
• BEFORE SCHOOL SCHEDULE:
  • 7:00-8:00.... Pull into drop-off lane, pulling all the way to the front. Quickly unload your child and walk them to the awning. Staff will escort students to their classroom. Front door service ends promptly at 8:00am. (Door is on an automatic timer and will lock.)
  • 8:00-8:10... Curb service has ended. Please get in drop off line, pulling to the front and wait for staff to exit at 8:10 am. For the safety of all, parents are not permitted to park and walk children across the parking lot. You will be asked to return to your vehicle and get in the drop off line. 
• AFTER SCHOOL SCHEDULE:
  • Full day pickup begins at 3:15pm. Queueing begins at 3:00pm.
  • Your child's name placard must be visible when pulling into the car line. 
  • Seven cars will fit in the drive-thru lane.  Once these spots are full, stay in the two car lines at the crosswalk. (See map below). We will permit 7 cars from one lane, followed by 7 cars from the alternate lane to pull up to the curb at a time.
  • 3:45pm - Curb service ends. Please park in front of the school and bring your placard into the vestibule. Show it to the staff member at the glass doors. Your child will be reunited with you in the vestibule. If you do not have your placard, you will be asked to visit the office to verify identity.
  • 4:45 Parents are considered late and late fees will apply. Continued late arrivals will result in dismissal from the program.

Family Handbook

The White Oak Early Learning Center (WOELC) provides early intervention to students who meet specific eligibility criteria for special education services. Children may be referred to WOELC via a parent referral or First Steps. If you have concerns about your child's development, please contact Kristine Morrison, klmorrison@avon-schools.org, to discuss whether an evaluation for special education services is appropriate. You may also contact Kristine at 317-544-6700. Choose option #5.

If your child is evaluated and determined to be eligible under Article 7, he/she may be placed in one of the programs outlined below. Program placement will be determined at the child's case conference.

• Walk-In: Services are provided one or two times per week in 20-30 minute sessions.
• Language Group: Services are provided one day per week for 2.5 hours.
• Developmental Preschool: Services are provided five days per week, 2.5 hours per day, and are based on student need. Some developmental preschool classrooms (bridge program) include peer role models, a slightly larger class size, and curricular pacing which more mirrors a community preschool classroom.  

Related services can be provided in all program areas and is determined at the case conference.

If a student is no longer eligible to receive special education services in the preschool setting, he/she may continue for ten school days. This will provide the family with adequate time to make alternate arrangements.
